HOAX Liverpool, Starboard Hotels’ flagship boutique hostel, welcomes local lass Emma Wright as general manager to continue the hostel’s success.
Recently celebrating its first birthday, the fresh and vibrant hostel has seen over 39,000 guests come through its doors this year. With 52 bedrooms (274 beds), a contemporary street kitchen and bar, Hopskotch, and basement music venue, The Hatch, HOAX offers a unique and quirky alternative for those travelling on a budget.
With over eight years’ experience in managerial roles within the hospitality industry, Emma will manage the operational and financial performance of HOAX as well as having a hand in the day to day running of the hostel.
Located in the heart of Cavern Quarter, surrounded by Beatles memorabilia and just a short walk away from Salthouse Quay, home to the iconic Albert Dock, HOAX is perfectly situated for those who want to see the very best of Liverpool without paying over the odds. With a Brooklyn-style restaurant and underground sports bar with live music performances on site, HOAX really does have it all.
Paul Callingham, managing director at Starboard Hotels, said: “Emma’s previous international experience combined with her local knowledge is sure to bring another dimension to the already dynamic HOAX brand.”
“I have no doubt that Emma’s obvious passion for travel and hospitality will give her a greater understanding of our HOAX guests as well as a fresh outlook in terms of service and quality. We look forward to seeing how Emma takes HOAX to the next level.”
Originally from the Wirral, Emma studied Tourism Business Management at Birmingham University and has since travelled and worked across Europe, USA and Asia. Emma has worked with well-established hotel groups such as IHG and Centre Island Hotels and was brought on board by Staybridge Suites to open its first property outside the USA in Liverpool in 2008. Most recently Emma was general manager for luxury brand Macdonald Hotels & Resorts where she managed a team of 70 in a 62 bedroom four-star hotel.
Emma holds a Bachelor of Arts with honours from Birmingham University in Tourism Business Management and was awarded Outstanding Young Manager of the year in Cheshire in 2006.
