With a 30,000 bottle cellar replete with wines from around the globe, The Vineyard is delighted to have been awarded two highly sought after wine awards last week, one from the Wine Spectator and the second from The World of Fine Wine.
2014 Best of Excellence Award
The Wine Spectator awarded The Vineyard with a 2014 Best of Excellence Award, which gives special recognition to restaurants with wine lists that have a great vintage depth and breadth across several regions and countries.
Alan Holmes, Restaurant and Wine Director of The Vineyard, says: “Our 3,000 bin wine list is for ever changing as we discover new wines and vintages from around the world. 800 or so of these are Californian and we list wines from 32 countries including the less well known wine producing countries such as India, Lebanon and China.”
World of Fine Wine’s World’s Best Wine Lists Awards
This year saw the first year for The World of Fine Wine’s World’s Best Wine Lists Awards where over 4,000 from around the world were judged. The Vineyard is the only hotel in the UK to be awarded three stars along with a special Jury prize for its exceptional collection of Californian wines, which includes rare and collectable bottles, wines from California’s best producers and the sought after wines from the Peter Michael Winery, owned by Sir Peter Michael who also owns The Vineyard.
Andrew McKenzie, Managing Director of The Vineyard, commented: “This is a fantastic achievement for the team. Wine is what we do at The Vineyard so it’s great to be recognised for the amount of time and effort the team put into sourcing wines to create such an extensive wine list with over 100 available by the glass.”
