Macdonald Manchester offers city’s first ‘steak’ infused cocktailsThe four-star Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa is celebrating the re-launch of its Scottish Steak Club restaurant with a collection of unique savoury cocktails. The ‘Whisky Steak’ and the ‘Rosemary Gin Steaktini’ are limited additions to the cocktail menu at Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa, featuring a blend of delicious Scottish steak and high grade Scottish whisky or vodka, designed to encapsulate the finest flavours of Scotland in a glass.

The Whisky Steak

The Whisky Steak is a short cocktail that uses fine quality Monkey Shoulder blended malt Scotch whisky alongside in-house aged 21 day Scots Beef farmed Sirloin Steak for soaking or dipping in the drink. This is complimented by fresh ground black pepper and homemade rosemary syrup which brings out both the spice and herb notes of the steak.

Rosemary Gin Martini

A herbal twist on the Martini, the Rosemary Gin Martini has been mixed as a palate cleanser to make the first mouthfuls of a steak even more delicious. It combines dry vermouth and rosemary syrup which leave behind subtle notes and tastes and the simplicity of drink is designed to introduce more people to this classic cocktail.

Scottish Steak Club restaurant

The recent restaurant and bar refurbishment means that the hotel now benefits from a renovated first floor Scottish Steak Club restaurant with stunning views across the city. The open-plan live kitchen allows guests to watch the chefs in action and relax in the new surroundings.

The restaurant has also installed an aging fridge for guests to view the outstanding steak offerings, as the finest cuts of Scottish, US and Argentinian beef complete the aging process, for up to 35 days, in the restaurant making them more tender for guests and customers.

Dignified – and different – drinks

Paul Bayliss MBE, General Manager at Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa, has recently been appointed Chair of The Manchester Hotelier’s Association. He said: “Our restaurant team and chef brigade wanted to create a Manchester first that would play to Macdonald Hotels’ Scottish heritage, so they started to work with our two most iconic ingredients – Scottish beef and Whisky.

“The Whisky Steak and Rosemary Gin Steaktini offer guests something completely unique to other cocktails in the city and combines amazing flavours. We’ve mixed the richness of salty steak with the sweet, subtleness of malt whisky or dryness of gin. The warm, well-balanced nip of the whisky or delicate flavours of vermouth always shines through. Our bar team describes them as ‘dignified drinks’ and definitely something different.

The Rosemary Gin Steaktini is available at any time within both the Scottish Steak Club and the Exchange Bar within the hotel, and the Whisky Steak is available as an aperitif with the Scottish Steak Club from July onwards.
