Jurys Inn promotes and develops management team

As part of its continued commitment to providing excellence in service, Jurys Inn has announced several moves, including two promotions to General Manager and two General Managers taking on larger properties. 

In 2011, Jurys Inn received one of only nine Gold Accreditations awarded to UK companies by Investors in People who described the Jurys Inn group as a cutting edge organisation operating at the very highest levels of people management practice. The company was commended for its true commitment to employees by championing internal promotion, with 90% of current Jurys Inn General Managers being developed and promoted from within.

Anthony Barrett, 29, takes the role of General Manager of 172 bedroom Jurys Inn Chelsea following two years as Deputy General Manager for Jurys Inn Birmingham during the hotel’s £4.7m refurbishment.  Originally from Dublin , Anthony holds a BSc in Hospitality Management and brings a wealth of knowledge to the position having worked for Jurys Inn for the past nine years at five different hotels across the group.  Anthony was part of the opening team for Jurys Inn Brighton in the capacity of Revenue Manager.  He joined Jurys Inn in 2004 as Duty Manager for the Chelsea hotel.                                            

David Livingstone, 33, has been appointed General Manager of Jurys Inn Sheffield, the group’s 259 bedroom hotel following his role as Deputy General Manager of Jurys Inn Derby.  Originally from Waterford, Republic of Ireland, David gained a Certificate in Hotel and Catering Management at GMIT Galway before joining Jurys Inn in 2010. Jurys Inn Sheffield takes great pleasure in welcoming him to his new role.

David Shiels, General Manager, moves from Jurys Inn Southampton to 186 bedroom Jurys Inn Edinburgh. David, 31, joined Jurys Inn five years ago as Deputy General Manager for Jurys Inn Glasgow and brings over 15 years of experience in the leisure industry to the role.  David discovered his love for the hospitality industry at an early age, starting as a waiter in a small independently run hotel, gradually working his way up the career ladder over the past 13 years. From Kitchen Porter and Receptionist to Duty Manager and Department Head across a range of big brand hotel groups, David has been driven to succeed by a passion for delivering exceptional service.

Michelle Finnegan, General Manager moves from Jurys Inn Sheffield to Jurys Inn Southampton.  Having started her career in the hospitality industry at just 16, Michelle, 32, joined Jurys Inn In 2001 as part of the reservations team and has quickly progressed through the ranks.  Jurys Inn Southampton is the largest hotel in the city, boasting 270 bedrooms and ten dedicated meeting rooms.  Originally from Birmingham , Michelle has worked for Jurys Inn for 12 years.
