The new 14 bedroom boutique hotel, The Crescent Victoria Margate, will open its doors on 11 June at Fort Crescent.
In keeping with Margate’s recent ongoing regeneration programme, restoring the city’s reputation it once celebrated during the 19th and mid 20th century as a popular seaside resort, the Crescent Victoria takes inspiration from the city in its heyday and injected old Victorian style into each of its individually designed bedrooms.
The hotel features decadent silver and glassware throughout its decor, 8 rooms of which boast a breathtaking and tranquil seaside view.
Restaurant, bar and alfresco courtyard
The hotel will also see the opening of its 40 cover restaurant and bar, complete with attached courtyard lounge area for alfresco drinking and dining. It will welcome hotel guests and the general public to experience its homely menu with a classic twist, and is headed up by Thanet born Head Chef, Jake Tait.
After 15 years experience working in top kitchens including Gordon Ramsay’s, Smith’s Court, the local Salmeston Grange Margate and the House of Commons, Tait comments, ”I’m excited to bring my passion for cooking and particularly patisserie to The Victoria Crescent, and will be supporting the local businesses and producers from the area, featuring the finest locally sourced fresh produce and seafood in our seasonally inspired menu.’
Sanctuary by the sea
General Manager Mat Pugsley says, “The Crescent Victoria aims to be a sanctuary by the sea. Celebrating the great British coast and offering a 2014 take on seaside heritage, we are proud to support the regeneration of the area, from providing jobs to local residents within the hotel to the visitors, both UK based and international guests that we aim to attract. This is an exciting time for Margate and we look forward to being part of a new and upcoming seaside haven as it continues to take shape and evolve.”
