Websites are in almost universal use across hospitality businesses but, unfortunately, they’re not universally successful in delivering the information wanted by potential guests. So it’s always useful to keep an eye on what other hospitality businesses are doing – and see what you can learn.
The Queen’s Head Hotel, located in the heart of the English Lake District, has just revealed its new website, claiming to showcase the historic coaching inn to its potential.
We agree: the new site, which offers a fresh, modern interface, is easy to navigate with good functionality that allows the establishment to display some of its stunning imagery to both prospective and existing customers. Not only that, it communicates the necessary practical and booking information so that prospects can quickly and easily become actual customers.
Latest investment
“We are continually updating the business, from re-decorating the rooms to changing the menu, and creating a new website is our latest investment.” says Managing Director, Ian Dutton. “It’s a very competitive market and we need to highlight what we are and what we do best here at The Queen’s Head Hotel at the first point of contact. We are delighted with the new website which is well designed, reflects our values and vision for growth and delivers a more valuable user experience.”
The launch of the new website comes at a busy time for the award winning Queen’s Head Hotel, which is one of the oldest and most historic pubs in Cumbria. Serving local ales and bistro style cuisine, the 17th century venue boasts a unique bar constructed from one of the original four poster beds from Appleby Castle.
Despite having just launched, Ian has already seen a boost in bookings via the site. “Since launching just last week, we have already seen a rise in both enquiries and bookings.” he said.
About The Queen’s Head
The Queens Head in Troutbeck is a traditional 17th century Elizabethan inn with original exposed beams and roaring log fires. The hotel has 15 charming bedrooms, many with 4-poster beds. Its unique bar was once an Elizabethan four poster bed in one of the bedrooms in Appleby Castle. Situated in a superb location close to Windermere, Ambleside and the surrounding areas, the traditional pub exudes both character and history. The à la carte menu is prepared by owner Ian Dutton and his son Harry.
Ian Dutton worked as head chef under John Tovey at The Miller Howe Hotel before opening The Miller Howe Cafe in Grasmere nine years ago. With his wife Annette, they acquired The Queens Head five years ago, and have also managed The Village Inn in Bowness on Windermere since 2011.
