The Convent Hotel & Spa to be crowd funded boutique hotelIn a sign of the ways in which hospitality development and funding is changing, Beyond Boutique Hotel Investments (BBHI) has launched as a web marketing platform that provides investors with the opportunity to earn excellent returns with a guaranteed exit. The directors are Matthew Roberts – an original investor in Babington House – and Frazer Fearnhead, MD of The House Crowd, the world’s first crowd funding platform for property.

BBHI states that it uses a crowd funded structure that enables investors to invest relatively small amounts in a highly profitable hotel business model and achieve the levels of return usually available only to larger investors.

The target is to raise £2.1 million via the BBHI crowd-funding platform.

BBHI takes the concept of a boutique luxury hotel and adds a new dimension, increasing cash flow whilst simultaneously cutting overheads, making the model significantly more profitable than a traditionally run hotel.

The model is based around marketing to niche organisations that make regular block bookings. This helps maximise occupancy rates, vastly reduces marketing spend, and reduces the staffing levels required.

The Convent

The Convent is a spectacular Grade II listed convent in 26 acres of land in the heart of the beautiful rolling hills of the Cotswolds. The house, at the core of the main building, dates from the early 17th century. Additional buildings designed by the architect Charles Hansom were added in the 1860s. The Convent has extensive gardens, an orchard and grazing land. The buildings are of Cotswold stone and retain a variety of attractive architectural and period features.

The property has recently been purchased and the owner/management team will transform it over the course of 2014 into a unique environment generating a number of lucrative revenue streams, including a members club, a spa, restaurant, 2 bars, a retreat and an ultra-exclusive live music venue – The Chapel – which can accommodate 250 people.

During the week, block bookings will be taken for the chef’s school, yoga/ meditation retreats, art classes, song writing workshops, writing courses and drama classes.

At weekends, the bookings for accommodation will stem from the exclusive ‘unplugged’ concerts held at The Chapel, the bands, their entourage and the audience travelling to see them.
