Iconic Bath hotel celebrates top AA red star award

Rated and awarded by AA’s professional inspectors, the news was announced at the AA Hospitality Awards in London on 26th September 2016. The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa is one of only five hotels across the UK to receive the coveted accolade this year.

Spearheaded by General Manager Jonathan Stapleton, the five red star award is official recognition of a hotel’s on-going commitment to unparalleled hospitality services including luxurious accommodation, a range of exquisite leisure facilities and a high-quality restaurant with carefully selected menus and wine list.

The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa is a five star, 45 room and suite property set within a Grade 1* listed Georgian townhouse on the world-famous Royal Crescent in the historical heart of Bath. An iconic address in one of the UK’s most sought after cities, a strong number of local and international clientele are loyal to this special hotel.

With a proven track record in the luxury hospitality industry, this is the second hotel that Jonathan has taken to five red stars having previously managed The Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa in St Andrews.

Jonathan Stapleton said: “We’re delighted to be one of only five hotels to receive the AA’s five red staraward this year. 2016 has seen the opening of our newly revamped The Spa & Bath House as well as our beautiful walled Wedding Garden so we can’t imagine a more appropriate time to be recognised. We also have the 250th anniversary of The Royal Crescent coming up in 2017 so there’s a lot to celebrate.

“The staff have shown such determination and dedication in meeting the first class standards required for this award – I couldn’t be prouder to be working alongside such a team of professionals to deliver the very best of British hospitality.”

Sol Zakay, Topland Chairman and CEO, together with Lionel Benjamin, Topland’s Director of Hotels commented “we would like to congratulate Jonathan and the entire team who have worked so hard to deliver consistent outstanding service. This award recognises the efforts and commitment of a dedicated team and ownership group.”

Since owning the hotel from 2012, The Topland Group have made a significant financial investment ensuring The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa underwent a meticulous multi-million pound refurbishment and restoration. The latest phase was the new bath house completed in May 2016. Today The Royal Crescent is a quintessential English hotel, blending heritage with modern luxury with an award-winning spa, The Spa & Bath House, The Dower House Restaurant and The Montagu Bar & Champagne Lounge. Topland are delighted to see the hotel receive this accolade and are committed to further developing the iconic status of this outstanding hotel.

Topland appointed Vision Hospitality Asset Management in 2012. Director of Vision, Ben Godon together with his team have worked closely with the hotel and owners to commercially reposition the hotel.
