Launching this month, five-star hotel St. James’s Hotel & Club will be offering an exciting Board Game Afternoon Tea concept, called It’s All In The Game, designed by Executive Head Chef William Drabble of in-house Michelin star restaurant Seven Park Place.
The perfect way to re-connect with family and friends, guests are encouraged to log off the internet and spend a long relaxing afternoon, indulging in delicious afternoon treats and a board game or two; an increasingly overlooked activity in our online, fast-paced world.
The theme of the afternoon tea is based around original board games, including traditional favourites such as: Snakes & Ladders, Backgammon, Chess, Monopoly, Scrabble, Dominoes and Ludo, all available to play at the hotel.
Highlight tea items include delicious cake dice, edible scrabble letters, chocolate chess pieces, shortbread dominoes and chocolate Monopoly hats.

History: The original St. James Club, founded in 1857 and still a core part of the brand, has a historical connection with board games and was regularly frequented by famous characters such as Winston Churchill and Ian Fleming. The board game Backgammon was a popular pastime in the Club where large sums of money were won and lost over time.
