easyHotel, the super budget hotel chain owned by easyJet founder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou has re-established a presence in Scotland’s largest city with a £2.3m property purchase.
The 125-room hotel on Glasgow’s Hill St, previously owned by an easyHotel franchisee, doubles easyHotel’s exposure to the booming Scottish market, with next year’s Ryder Cup golf tournament and Commonwealth Games expected to attract thousands of additional visitors.
Bookings and pricing
The hotel will open on 1 February 2014 with immediate on-line bookings now available at www.easyhotel.com. Room rates will start from £19 per night Sunday – Thursday and £29 per night on Fridays and Saturdays. Pricing will follow the usual “easy” format with early bookings attracting lower prices. In addition there will be special promotions offering the first five cheapest rooms at just £9 per room per night for every night during February and March 2014.
The 10 sq m rooms offer safe comfortable twin/double beds complete with en-suite shower/WC facilities. Special disabled facilities will also be available. Although there are no catering facilities, easyHotel Glasgow is perfectly situated for local cafes, bars and restaurants.
Simon Champion, easyHotel chief executive officer said:
“Stelios and the easyHotel management team are delighted to be directly invested in Glasgow. We believe our product is perfectly suited for cost conscious business and leisure travellers while supporting local employment and food establishments, as well as nearby businesses. With over half of our customers coming from outside the UK, we should also help to attract an international clientele to Glasgow.”
easyHotel has one directly owned hotel on London’s Old St with another outlet due to open in Croydon in the spring. In addition there are 19 franchised properties stretching from Edinburgh to Dubai.
