We met with Daniel Nevitt, Group Marketing Director at Armourcoat to discuss how he is currently using social media as a cohesive part of his wider marketing strategy across 80 countries worldwide, so over to Daniel.

“Armourcoat has a brand personality at the leading edge of design particularly with trends in colour and decorative finish.  We have a global presence through an agent network in over 80 countries, so always have an international flavour injected into our style and outlook.

I think in combination these are key aspects we try to articulate through our marketing. Our products are very photogenic and incredibly tactile, so image and positioning are critical to best present them.

Traditional marketing activity – particularly trade exhibitions and B2B events will always be a significant part of our overall strategy.  But we have and will continue to make online marketing an increasingly important element of our planning and activity.  We’ve been working with social media channels for the past 3-4 years and continue to. The ongoing challenge is to find the best mix of channels as functionality develops and is enhanced – for example use of video content.

We receive great responses to project and finish photography on our Facebook page, and can create fantastic customer engagement through Twitter or LinkedIn.

This enables me to have direct contact and response – but also share some of my activity within the business. Sites such as Instagram and Pinterest work especially well for our designer clients who can use our images for mood boards.  I think the impact of social media on marketing is rapid and evolving, and you can’t take your eye off the ball for a moment.  The #HandCSocial roundtables created by H&C News – leading to their social media training days – are perfectly timed and a great asset for the industry.

We became a sponsor partner of the #HandCSocial programme in 2014 and have seen it develop effectively in 2015. The opportunity to sit down with a wide range of marketing professionals across our industry also using social media sharing their knowledge and experience has helped us to shape our own activity.
