Exactly six years after opening, city centre property G&V Royal Mile Hotel, Edinburgh, has announced that it is set to invest in a luxury re-design. The enhancement of the property’s five-star offering will include the redesign of 136 rooms, as well as a complete redesign of the bar and lobby areas of the hotel.
Design by leading Scottish designers
In a commitment to the hotel’s support of local talent, a number of the hotel’s luxury suites will each be designed by leading Scottish designers including: innovative fashion designer Judy R Clark, artist Christine Clark, design duo Timorous Beasties, artist and textile designer Hatti Pattisson, local bespoke furniture designer, Holster, and leading interior designer, Graven – who will also be designing the rest of the hotel bedrooms.
Each designer will bring their unique, signature style to the rooms, some of which share enviable views across the city skyline. Guests will be offered a genuinely distinctive experience with interiors that truly evoke modern Scotland and draw on local talent, textiles, charm and character.
Phased programme
The programme of design work will take a phased approach to avoid any impact on the guest experience for which the hotel has become renowned, with a number of rooms ready in summer 2015 and the full re-design complete by the end of the year. The hotel is committed to style with no compromise and ensuring a genuinely friendly, five-star service matched with a total understanding of guests’ needs.
Already established as a firm city favourite, dining destination Cucina will remain at the heart of the hotel with Italian chef Mattia Camorani at the helm, continuing to serve modern interpretations of authentic Italian classics.

Celebration of modern Scotland
Carina Svensen, Hotel Manager at G&V Royal Mile Hotel explains, “Our hotel has always been distinctive and modern design still absolutely remains at our core. This is a natural evolution for us and we’re truly excited to be able to transform some of our rooms to reflect luxury living and inject a little local character into the interiors. The new design will reflect a celebration of modern Scotland, drawing on the incredible resources and talent we have on our doorstep here in Edinburgh.
“While we will be retaining some of the design elements that our guests, and indeed our team here, recognise and love, it’s going to feel even more warm and welcoming with genuine luxury at every touch point whether our guests are popping in for a coffee at the bar or travelling across the world to stay with us.”
Further details of the luxury redesign will be revealed in due course.
G&V represents a new standard of luxury hotel. The hotel is part of Carlson Rezidor’s the Quorvus Collection, a new generation of expertly curated five-star hotels that offer a truly distinctive experience. Each is individual in style, design, heritage, history and architecture and is reflective of its location and culture.
