Jurgen Ammerstorfer will be hotel manager at the Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London with immediate effect. London’s first elevated luxury hotel – starting at 125 metres high – Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London will occupy levels 34 to 52 of The Shard, Western Europe’s tallest building.
Working alongside Executive Vice President and General Manager Darren Gearing, Jurgen will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the 202-room property and oversee all hotel operations.
Jurgen brings with him extensive senior management experience within the luxury hospitality sector, having held general manager roles in three five-star hotels around the world. His most recent role was as general manager at The Trafalgar Hotel, where he oversaw the 129-room London Hilton property.
Prior to this, he was based in Miami as general manager at Celebrity Cruises, where he oversaw a 1,425-room luxury cruise liner that included 72 suites, 23 food and beverage outlets and accommodated 3,200 guests.
Previous positions – primarily based in the Middle East – include a general manager role during the launch of the first five-star DoubleTree by Hilton in Jordan and director of operations at the Hilton Sharm Waterfalls Resort in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt and at Hilton Kuwait Resort.
