Jurys Inn Edinburgh has welcomed a new General Manager, David Shiels, to lead the team of 80 which runs the city centre hotel with 186 bedrooms and five dedicated meeting rooms. The hotel is located in the Old Town, moments from the famous Royal Mile, central to much of the city’s beautiful architecture.
David has been promoted by the hotel group in recognition of his excellent work as General Manager for Jurys Inn Southampton. The promotion demonstrates the continued commitment to invest in people and maintain excellence in service for Jurys Inn.
David, 31, joined Jurys Inn five years ago as Deputy General Manager for Jurys Inn Glasgow and brings over 15 years of experience in the leisure industry to the role. Originally from Halifax, West Yorkshire, David started as a waiter in a small independently run hotel, gradually working his way up the career ladder over the past 13 years. From Kitchen Porter and Receptionist to Duty Manager and Department Head across a range of big brand hotel groups, David has been driven to succeed by a passion for delivering exceptional service.
Having worked for Jurys Inn for the past five years at three different hotels across the group, David’s attitude to delivering the highest standard of service has enabled him to work his way up through the Jurys Inn ranks, giving him the opportunity at just 29 to take the post as General Manager for 270 bedroom Jurys Inn Southampton. David returns to Scotland to lead the team of 80 employees at Jurys Inn Edinburgh. David’s new role will involve promoting the central Edinburgh property to business and leisure guests alike, in addition to managing and developing the team to ensure all sales, revenue and customer satisfaction targets are met.
